Ibanez Turbo Tubescreamer TS9dx deluxe mod I can get a hold on a first run TS9dx. It appears to beom the first run, which had less gain than intended. THe second run had it fixed. Analogmike mentiones this issue, but would give exact explanation how to fix it. It has something to with the drive pot, which is not a standard pot. Thanks for any help! - "doc" |

| Joe Z. | I just did the standard 808 and 4558 to my unit. I use it in tandem with a standard ts-9 r.i. I love the sound of the dx, but for some reason there hasn't been a lot of response to it here or elsewhere. I think the names of the different modes are misnomers, ie: turbo mode is the cleanest of the 4 etc.. The unit mantains the signature ts 9/808 sound. It has an incredible clean boost, tons of bass, and assymetrical clipping. All the most popular DIY mods. So why the cold shoulder?? Joe |

no cold shoulder here, I own one myself. I think I will build my own though with "real" switches, something is wrong with my bypass mode. nic |

I don't think that there's a "cold shoulder", just that AMPAGE has primarily been a DIY kind of place and clean boost, tons of bass and asymmetrical clipping have been done many times before - and to these types of circuits. Yeah, it's nice that you can buy it, but I mean, it's still generic. It doesn't start to really live until you mod it for _your_ setup. Then it starts kicking! |

My question was regarding an issue involved with only the first run of Ibanez TS9dx pedals. Later, Maxon fixed this problem. The problem had something to do with a resistor that was missing from the original design. By adding an additional resistor somewhere, the normal mode would be exactly like the original ~TS9. So, I am not talking about a TS9-808 conversion! Thanks, - "doc" |
