EQ pedals: advice? Can anyone give their opinions on either the BOSS GE-7 or the DOD FX-40B graphic eq pedals. I'm especially interested in anyone's opinions about noise levels and response. Thanks in advance! Keith |

| Mark Hammer | In many instances, you can improve the noise specs of whatever you happen to purchase by replacing the op-amps with a lower-noise version (e.g., replacing 4558's 5532's, or TL062's with TL072's). If you don't have excessive high-frequency requirements from your EQ, you can always tack a capacitor on the output and trim back some of the hiss. IN general, though, whenever you have a stage that is supposed to run clean, it's good to feed it with the hottest signal that the device's headroom/design will permit, in order to get the best S/N ratio. |

I use the GE-7 and like it. I don't have a DOD FX40B. I also like the Ibanex graphic. If you have hiss problems, Mark has the ticket to quieting things down. |

I have an old GE-7 and its a nice eq pedal. I recently found out they are what Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine uses. I recommend it. |
