| Mark Hammer | Re: Battery idea Amen, and use a cable tie to hold the thing on your pedal board. You can wire in an in-line thumbswitch like people use for reading lights, and away you go. Alternatively, if you feel like it, you can wire up an adapter box with a variable regulator, distribution jacks, and power-LED in it. That way you can power things the way you want, see when the power is dropping, and tweak the supply voltage for effect. I might point out that it would be useful to use 8 or 10 D-cells instead of 6. Many devices that are intended to run clean (e.g., EQ, delay lines, or compressors) have more headroom and better S/N specs with 12-15vdc. Note that many discrete-component distortion devices can be fussy about supply voltage though, so if you make an 8-cell unit, having a pre-regulator and post-regulator power tap (clearly identified on the distribution jacks) might be a good thing. This would give you long battery life, and the right power for the each job. |
