Delay acting up
Hey,

I have an Ibanez DDL digital delay. Its great pedal--when it works. I kinda goes through spells. *Most* of the time, it does just fine, but occasionaly, like today, decides to screw up. Heres what its doing: I plug it up to the guar and the LED indicator automatically comes on and wont go off. The only sound coming from it is dry, no wet.

What do yall think could be the problem??

Using batteries or AC wart?

Leave amp side plugged into amp that's plugged in, remove batteries for a couple of minutes.

Plugging guitar side first, then amp side?

Getting little staticky shocks/sparks in that room?

Could be static discharge damage, but not likely. Do suggest you plug up output to grounded amp first, then input.

How old (roughly) is this thing?

Don,

I'm using a battery. No shocks. Sometimes I plug in the input first and sometimes the output.

Its probably about 10-15 years old...

I fixed a DOD effect that acted like that 1 of the ceramic caps in the flip flop section was bad(the flip flop scetion is what turns the fets on and off)

That's the area I was thinking about, too.

That or the actual bypass switch circuit.

How do I determine whether or not a cap is bad?? All That I have is a DMM.

It's easy to tell if it's shorted, telling if it's open is another trick altogether.

If it's physically convenient, easier to just replace it.
