asking for a TS808 PCB Anyone has one? The circuit is too complicated for me to attempt doing it myself. I have built one of RG's, but I noticed it's not exactly the same thing. Maybe it sounds the same, I cannot compare them as I haven't the 808... I like RG's a lot, anyway, BUT I want a 808 I would like to build one, if the sound is not the same in both of them, RG's and the Ibanez one. Thanks. JohnC |

The circuitry on the Screamer board is an exact duplicate of the audio path of the TS-9/TS808 (which differ only in a couple of resistor values.) I intentionally left off the "bypass" switching, which did not give "true bypass". I did keep the input and output buffers in place for the sake of originality, in case the emitter followers change the sound. Jack Orman went ahead and abandoned the input and output buffer transistors in his "Son of Screamer" to cut it down further. If you want to make an exact duplicate of the 808, you have two and possibly three ways to proceed. (1)You can construct the "bypass" circuitry on a perfboard and hook that into the effects board you already have. This will then duplicate the 808 circuitry exactly. (2)You can find a TS9 and mod it - they used the same circuit board. (3)You can dig for someplace that offers an exact replica circuit board. I am not aware of any such item, and I think I would be if it existed. |

As what I was looking for was for the "audio" exact replica, then I'm happy now. Those Rboost and Cboost really do what they are suposed to do, I just tried that this evening, so I'm, again, happy now. Who cares about that complicated un-true bypass? JohnC |

There was a net-frenzy a ways back on how to add a boost feature to TS style circuits. Most of those centered on switching in a bogger-value drive pot. Changing the resistor capacitor at the negative input to the opamp is another way to do the same thing, and a fairly simple one. I had the extra space on the board, so i just printed in the spaces for it. As you've found, the boost done that way can be quite effective. Glad it's working well for you. Now go make LOUD noises! |
