| Greg | Re: Big Muff PI (from front page) FWIW, I'm pretty sure that Isley solo was a Big Muff direct into the board. No amp. Greg |

Listen to Pink Floyds "Sorrow" of... Listen to Pink Floyds "Sorrow" off of Delicate sound of thunder, The solo from "Time" From Dark side of the moon or the Backing chords in Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2 from The Wall. I've owned several vintage big muffs and they all get very raspy with the tone cranked. Most people I know use them with the tone around half way. I now only have a sovtech reissue which in my opinion is the best of them all (and I am one of those people most refer to as a vintage freak). IMHO the reissue comes closer to the second generation muff, chords actually sound better on these varieties. David Gilmour has also switched to the reissues. The schematic you used could be of the 1st generation(triangle knob configuration) which were very raspy and untameable. I don't have the foggiesty idea what components differ, but someone here might be able to help. |

Re: backwards trany! hmmmm We had a customer with a odd ball BMP and it was very smooth sounding compared to all the others, and we checked it out and the last trany after the tone buffer amp was reversed, go figure? put it back the way it should be and it buzzed just like it should. (DONT TRY THIS AT HOME, IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY!)but if you want a smoother sound ???? |

There is no transistor after the tone buffer amp/transistor. Do you mean the last transistor in the entire circuit? Is this a joke? |
|---|---|
| MM | Yes, that really happened, and it was the last tran. |

I tried reversing the last transistor, still works fine, no really noticable difference in sound, but was a little bit harsher than the original..not smoother..IMO ..i used 2n5088's TERRY |
