If you get a chance, try out the Dunlop Hendrix Octave Fuzz. I have sent mine back twice thinking there must be something completely wrong with this circuit, something is backwards somewhere, and it kept coming back (promptly and well packaged) from the factory sounding the same.  
 
The sound is high gain, very unfocused grainy fuzz, no octave behavior that I can hear. Extremely strange pedal.

They suck - pure and simple. I used one...once. After my ears stopped bleeding, I gave the thing back.
