Compressor in Silicon Chip (Australia) Sept 1999 New (to me) compressor in Silicon Chip mag (Australia) Sep 99. Input goes to a voltage dividor consisting of a 220k and a BC549 to earth. The divider feeds an op amp (LF357) with gain 470. Op amp out goes to a buffer emitter folower, then to diode rectifier, arranged to turn on the BC549. Output taken from op amp out. Havn't tried it yet, but cant see the emitter folower being needed. We shall see. |

The description is very like the Orange Squeezer except that the OS used a JFET for the input gain control. |

This is interesting RG, I thought looking at it that a fet might be more like it for the variable impedance. One other thing about it was that there was a small cap across the voltage divider transistor, so that when signals were soft, relatively more high end was cut. They say it acts as a 'noise gate'. |
