| nic | suggestions on rack delay/reverbs I was hoping someone could recomend a good recording ambience processor deal. I was looking at Alesis. A guy I work with said some of them can get noisy. I was thinking about a Midiverb 4. Any oppinions on a versitile processor that has lotsa reverbs delays and maybe chorus effects?? Oh yeah I don't want to spend much over $200. Thanks, nic |

The Lexicon MPX100 might be worth a listen. It might run you right around $250 new, though. |

I'd second Joe's motion and vote for the Lexicon! (I've had a Lexicon Alex for many years and its plate reverb is killer for guitar tracks.) Lexicon practically invented high quality studio reverb (for under $10k!) and their cheap boxes use some of the same algorithms/formulae as their more expensive ones. At least in the past I thought the special effects (esp for guitar) from the Lexicon units weren't that hot compared to Roland or Alesis, but they have come out with some fine gear for guitars in the past year or so. Not to be redundant, but I gotta go with the MXP100. I know as number of pro pickers and engineers who swear by them. In my experience with the Midiverb 4 I found it noisy and a bit on the harsh side. Had some cool sounds if your going for that heavily effected ambient sound. The LXP-1 and LXP-5 by Lexi are also damn fine units. I see them used for around $200-$250. They're simple but very effective little boxes, but if your a tweak freak, they might not offer you the precision you need. Oh yeah, I don't know the price range, but I remember hearing the Wedge by Alesis and thinking it was pretty good for a cheap box. Although I think they're using Lexicon algorithms so you might as well go with the MXP. My 2 cents, Warren |

| nic | I tried finding out about the wedge a couple of months ago. They discontinued it and sold the remaining stock for like $20 each. They are up at ebay for $100+ someone is making a killing. I am actually looking to use the delay reverb thing for ambience on my drum machine sound more than anything, but I am looking for versitily over all. I like being able to tweak parameters, and knobs are my favorite part of effects. nic |

| pinout | Try a digitech studio quad...I know that exceeds your budget...For the small homebrew recording setup..It packs alot of punch |
