Gus isolation box
Has anyone built a isolation box using a 4" or smaller speaker and cheap elec mics. I have been thinking about this but I have not built one.

Gus,
I have seen an isolation box that has a single 12" celestion and a SM58 enclosed. It got a great review and would have a big benefit for those who have volume considerations.
I say go for it......I'm sure yours would work great!

On my band's soon to be released CD we have a guitar track that was put down using
a Postcard-sized battery powered "Marshall" amp isoed in a cardboard shoebox. This was certainly a special effect tone used in one section of one song but it worked surprisingly well, kinda banjo-like.
I'm thinking of trying my tiny harmony/valco in a steamer trunk next!

Hey mate! I'd love to get a copy of your band's CD!!!
I've recorded with thise little Marshall's before too. it's a pretty nifty little tone to say the least.
I think the enclosed thing is cool if you have a "noise issue" do deal with when it comes to the neighbors. Live it works great too!!

CD is in the final stages so I'll let ya know when it's done. We can swap!
Here's another mini-marshall trick:
Use the amp as a bottleneck slide, speaker facing the strings. The lowest volume feedback I've ever came across. Minutes of entertainment! Sorta the opposite of the Jimi Hendrix amp-humping.

hey this sounds like a good idea for me!!! What sorta speaker should I look for if I want to use my Deluxe or Super reverb as the amp? I have heard Fenders are really tolerant to impedence mismatch, should that be a concern?

Advice on building one??? Would I need to take the considerations Ifor dimentions as I would in designing a normal speaker encosure, for example the golden ratio stuff? I really don't have the ability to cut wood down though! So maybe I should cool it for a little while to work out that small kink!
