If you're looking for 4 ins/4 outs on a budget, check out the Gadget Labs Wave/4 (www.gadgetlabs.com). This card has gotten very good reviews consistently, apparently isn't plagued by the driver problems some cards have, and is $250. The next step up is the Wave 8/24 which has 8 ins/ 8 outs of 24 bit digital and it only costs $499. I've got one of these and am very happy so far but I haven't really put it through the paces yet. Both also have midi ports.
