Tele-on-steroids This is a Craig Anderton wiring mod for telecasters presented in Guitar Player a few years ago. It looks really cool. Has anybody installed this mod in their teles ? How does it sound ? Cheers, Niek -You can find this mod on the following site: http://w3.ime.net/~cygnus/guitarmods.html |

| Gus | I have not used that mod however I used the mod in his effects book. Series connection is cool sounding. I sent Steve A. a schematic I drew up using a five way switch for bridge, bridge and neck ~p~~p~, neck, neck and bridge in series, neck out of phase and bridge in series, You need the Yamaha switch stew mac sells to wire it. Steve A. you can post the schematic if you want. Gus |

| Texas Dave | My own Frankentele is wired up with the Fender custom shop 4 position switch, which allows me to still use the traditional parallel setting (one of my favorite rhythm guitar sounds), but I also get the series setting option which does a very reasonable sounding imitation of a full-size `bucker (lotsa big pretty mids). Won't leave home without it! |

This is the best thing to do to a Tele in my opinion, the extra series connection is awesome! I wired my brother's Tele a few years ago with a 5-way switch that got this position and also a fifth position that was the one on original teles (cap to produce bass sound). The fifth position sound was not as useful, but with the right cap, you can get sort of an instant "woman tone" sound, like turning down the tone control on a Gibson. However, now that the 4-way switch is available (it's about $14), I find it the most useful mod. Alan |

Alan: The fifth position sound was not as useful, but with the right cap, you can get sort of an instant "woman tone" sound, like turning down the tone control on a Gibson. According to many sources the cap to use for the EC "woman tone" is 0.015uF/630v polyester. That value (the caps I have are Cerulean blue- would that be polyester?) works great for a hb on a LP, and not too bad for a Tele or Strat, either. Steve Ahola |
