HB/SC tele tone
Hey,

I was wondering about jumping a wire from the bridge (SC) pu in my tele to the tone knob.. and then instead of going to ground, sending that to the hot wire from my neck HB. would this allow me to blend some HF from the bridge pu in with the neck HB to demushify it? It is a stock american standard w/a deluxe tele HB in the neck and standard controls.

does this sound worth a try?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Paul

Paul,
Wiring up a tele's pick ups this way gives a great extra sound, fat but clear, an instant ballsy lead sound.
If you've already thought of how to do it just go for it.
If not give ma a day or so to draw up the diagram on my computer and I'll post it to you.

I was just going to run a wire of the hot of the bridge pu (before the switch) feed that into the tone control, then instead of feeding the out of the tone to ground, i was going to "Y" that together with the hot of the neck HB

If this sounds good, let me know

That would just give variation on the two pickup position on the selector switch. My mod when I did it a few years ago changes the wiring to give a new 6inch wide humbucker using the bridge pickup and one of the bucker's coils. I'll email the schem to you. See what you think.

As I said in my last post your idea would just give a variable version of the two pickups at once sound. And would probably give *less* brightness to the sound as the pot up full would give the two pickups in parallel as normal, and from there you could only turn the bridge pickup *down*.

You could lose the tone control and have a volume for each pickup and balance them to your taste like a Les Paul.

It would be possible to have a pan or balance control to blend the 2 pickups. With custom switching and wiring the only question is how far do you want to go?

Most things are possible(ish)!
