Help! Loud hum when bridge is touched.
I am rewiring a MIJ start for a friend. Nothing fancy, I changed it to one master tone (a la tele), and have a microswitch to switch the bridge PU in at anytime.

There seems to be a grounding problem (loop?, cold solder?). There is a faint hum from the guitar at all times, but it gets real loud when the bridge or strings are touched.

The trem claw is ground liked normal. I have the trem, jack, and PU's all ground to the volume pot. Is there a problem with that?

Thanks for any help,

Have you checked to make sure the output jack isn't wired backwards?

Wyatt Thank you! Wiring was good, the jack was shot.
Thanks for the advice, I double-checked and the jack was bad, a simple replacement job.
