| DW Kleine | Tele wiring I bought some Texas Specials for my tele. Wired it up according to instructions. It didn't work. Took it to my dealer and he had to wire it up a completely different way that the schematic indicated. Sounds fine now but was wondering of any other wiring possibilities. The texas special neck pickup has three wires instead of two. |

The third wire is a separate connection to the metal case. Most Tele pickups have the metal cover (neck pu) or the base plate (bridge pu) factory connected to the "ground" side of the winding, thus you only see two leads. Having a separate shield to ground connection allows a greater number of wiring options, such as series coils, and allows easier adapting to systems using pickups from more than one manufacturer since their winding polarity may differ from Fender's. |
