Hum Problem - Solved! I have a Squier Jazz that had a bad noise problem. I picked up 60 cycle hum and other electrical noises. At first I thought the cavity was not shielded correctly, thus the post on conductive paint. This weekend I realized that the hum got worse as I adjusted the tone control. So I opened the bass up and found that the bridge was grounded to the tone control only. So I soldered jumper wires from each pot and Viola! no more hum. What was interesting is that each pot had a little bead of solder on it. Did the production people forget to solder jumper wires? |
