Re: Volume control Tone
... I was checking something in Craig Anderton's "Electronic Projects for Musicians" 1980 edition and noted that his Passive Tone Control project is VERY similar to the Torres Deluxe Vari-Tone kit, and he even recommends using a Mouser audio transformer almost identical to what Dan uses! (I think I used the only parts I could find locally and ended up with a box that sounded like crap but that was not the fault of Craig's design!)
.. The Mouser stock numbers are as follows (p.239)
.
42TL021 (for midrange kits) . . . . . . $1.52 each
42TL024 (for Deluxe VariTone) . . . . . $2.09 each
42TM019 (for the Craig Anderton project)$2.36 each
.
.. I suppose it would be interesting to try out different transformers to see how it would effect the tone. Question: Is there a good and cheap multimeter that measures inductance? I saw one for $180 that included a serial cable to send the readings to a PC for display or analysis. Very tempting but I already have 5 or 6 DMMs for home and work (HVAC repair) so I couldn't really justify paying another $200 (incl tax) just to measure inductances...
