"Anti-pop" resistors for true-bypass. Howdy all! It's been a busy few months, but despite my lack of posts, I'm still reading and learning from you all. Here's my question, I have a envelope filter that gives me a loud pop when I switch it in/out with the Carling DPDT switch I installed in it. I remember there is a way of killing this by running 1M metal film resistors to ground. My question is do I run them from the switch lugs for the input/output jacks, or do I run them from the lugs that send/receive to the effect? Thanks for any input. -Y. |

Y: This may not be that scientific but I will try putting the 1M resistors across all of the switching contacts. If the "pop" is still there I may try 470K resistors instead. If that doesn't help either I'll try tacking on small pf caps (like 22pf). Steve Ahola |

| R.G. | Hi, Y! The pop is from the input/output capacitors on the effect itself leaking micro-amps onto the unconnected outer sides that are soldered to the DPDT switch during the time that the switch lugs are unconnected, i.e. when the effects is bypassed. If you solder 1M resistors from the ends of the caps that tie to the DPDT switch to ground, the pop will go away if your capacitors are good. The lugs that send/receive to the effect are the right ones. |

Thanks R.G. I tried the 1M resistors. It still pops. Looks like some capacitors are going bad in my Japanese Mutron colne (the Elec-Tron 1000). Hope the TB layout drawing wasn't too crude for you. -Y. |
