Cry Baby Wah Switch Replacment? Last night I stomped on my Cry Baby and the switch stayed on. I couldn't turn the wah off. Good thing it was only practice. I looked under the hood and found that the switch has a plastic case that probably contributed to its demise. What switch should I buy to replace it and will it probably be available locally (Radio Shack or Spectronics)? Thanks!!! |

If it's one of the older Crybabies, the switch is a Carling SPDT. Radio Shack will NOT have a replacement. If you're already up for a replacement, you might want to condsider putting in a DPDT to get true bypass when the wah is switched out, eliminates "tone sucking" loading by the pedal in the bypass mode. If it's one of the newer Crybabies, I don't know if they use the same style switch. The Carling DPDT is available from Stewart MacDonald for about $17. I normally have these for $13, but I don't have any at the moment. |

I bought the Cry Baby new about 3 years ago. Is there a part number or equivalent part number? I may be able to get it from Spectronics here in Mobile...at least I've seen some switches there that looked like it. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I think the DPDT switch part number is the Carling 316, don't know the SPDT #. I agree with R.G., I would replace the switch with a DPDT and wire for true bypass (something I do with any effects that have the SPDT switches, i.e., MXR, EH). The DPDT isn't very common, I don't think Mouser carries them, I know Radio Shack doesn't, nor any of the electronic stores in the Washington, D.C. area, however the SPDT switch or an equivalent usually are around many electronic stores. I think Analog Man's price for a Carling DPDT switch was $15. -Y. (wyatt poist) P.S. Yes, to the best of my knowledge Dunlop still uses Carling switches. |

I belive the switch I have is a SPDT. I have no choice but to replace it with another SPDT because I've got to get the thing up and running. Wyatt...would you have the schematics on how to modify it to true bypass? I may do it when I get a lull in playing or I pick up another Wah (best alternative). |

There a full-bypass wiring diagram available on the Fulltone web site. Visit: http://www.fulltone.com/qaframe.html |
