Re: TS9 reissues.
Thanks much, R.G., I'll have
a look see. Might generous
of you.

I've long intended to get some
junk boards and practice soldering
so I'll be ready to build my
super amp, but I have to get
through this dissertation first.
Sort of takes the fun out of life :-).

I just finished switching the op amp in my TS9 reissue. It came with a 7555 chip and sounded so compressed and stuffy. I hated it. I ravaged a 88 Mazda truck radio for the JRC 4558D chip and put it in the TS9. This thing now sounds like my friends original. Awesome. It took about 30 min. to do the whole job. Thanks RG Keen if you see this!

You're welcome. That's why I spend the time on this - to get more people to put on their wellies, firmly grasp their soldering irons, and wade on in!

R.G,
Your site has helped me many ways. I have built a fuzz face w/germaniums and some of M. Fuller's mods + my own. It is amazing. I have fixed my wah pedal, an early 80's Dunlop Cry baby. Sounds great again. I have troubleshooted a problem in my Mesa Boogie. And, I did the TS9 mod. It feels great to be able to play, and be satisfied with my sound. Thanks so much. I would have posted this on your site today, but the server wouldn't let me on. Please continue your amazing work!

I just completed the mod on TS5 i have after reading this. I had seen the JRC-4558-d ic's in the mouser catalog and picked some up last time i was there. Are they the same as the original? It sounds a lot better now and the hardest part was opening the case and getting on your web page
"saturday afternoon "for the resistors to replace.

Thanks the TS wailes now.

There is an ongoing debate about what version/type/lettering/date code/etc is the "real thing".

You've done the right test - if it sounds good, it's the right thing. I keep telling people that there are no magic parts.
