Wa-wa pedal I have an old "Original Crybaby Wa-wa" by Dunlop which has a problem. It is about 10 years old and has been through a lot but was well taken care of. I get a lot of noise when I am pedaling. I opened up the pot and cleaned the contacts all around but still get a lot of noise. Is the pot just totally worn out or what? If anyone has any suggestions, I would certainly appreciate a reply. I bought this pedal for $35 and I'm not to crazy about paying the current price for a Wa-wa which is reaching $100! Thanks in advance, Darin |

I know this might sound a little wacky, but it will fix your problem (most likely). What you need to try is spraying the pot with some standard silicone spray and then work it into the pot by rotating it repeatedly. Works for me! Good Luck, Matt |

The cure is to replace the pot. This will cost $10 to $20, over $30 if you get one of the super whammy-do pots. |

I have talked and played with wa-wa's enough to agree with RG, but, most people have liked me replacing their pot with the cheapest, unsealed, linearity -out-of wack- pot there is. I believe this is because the knee in the pot's linearity curve is desirable with regards to the wah's wop sound ( if you will ). Anyway, that has worked for me and some musicians I have done work for. Christian CJLectronics |

In engineering, the first rule has to be "If it works well, do it." Come to think of it, that may be rules 1 through 4... |

I tried, but couldn't get that damned gear off! If you go for a Dunlop replacement, definitely get the "deluxe" ratherthan the standard wah pot. A standard one wore out in a few months of light use. Once there are actual worn spots on the carbon, cleaning won't help.. |

I thank all of you for your suggestions. I think I will probably go for a new pot. I think I can handle $30 or so to make an otherwise perfect pedal brand new again. This is a killer chat room and I wish others were this helpful. Thanks again |
