Fuzz Face Polarity
What will happen if I want to place a (-) grounded effect, say a compressor, before the (+) grounded Fuzz Face? Is this a problem? Can they be connected with a standard patch cord?

If you run the two effects off separate batteries or separate isolated power supplies then it will be OK.
One battery and one power supply is also OK. Just don’t use the same PSU for +ground effects and -ground effects.

Dead right, Dave.

Also beware of "switchable polarity" PSU's. That won't work for this, even though it might seem to. You actually need a (+) power supply and a (-) power supply to do this.

I might note that although they are rare, you can build a Fuzz Face with NPN germanium transistors and power it from a normal negative ground battery setup. That's why I keep a small stock of NPN germaniums on hand.
