Christian Sverchek Relays for switching effects
Does anybody know of: using relays as a remote controller, for switching stomp boxes in and out of the audio signal, with possible presets.

Sure. Use miniature DPDT's, typically 12VDC models. Use a catch diode across the coil to prevent switch spikes, and switch the coil with a transistor that uses a 0.47 uF capacitor from collector to base to slow down the turn on and off.
