BOSS pedals set up?? Hi, I'm the proud of owner of the following BOSS pedals: PSM 5 (power supply/master switch), CS-3 compression sustainer,HM-3 hyper metal distortion, RV3-digital delay/reverb, BF-2 flanger, CE-5 chorus, GE-7 equalizer. Plus a BOSS BCB-6 carying case on its way. Question- How should I set up the pedals?? Any suggestions as to which pedal should go closest to the Amplifier or the guitar and what not?? Any suggestions will help. Thanks in advance elmer "elramz@webtv.net" |

| Mark Hammer | The only hard and fast rule I would suggest is to place the compressor FIRST, and the reverb LAST. The chorus should probably go just before the reverb, and the flanger just ahead of that (although you should probably consider stereo options, just for a taste of the counterintuitive). The sequence of EQ and fuzz depends on what you want to do. An EQ just ahead of a fuzz allows you to goose certain frequencies (usually lower midrange) to add "character" to the overdriven sound by selectively overdriving certain bands more than others. On the other hand, an EQ placed after a fuzz allows you to "tame" the fuzz a bit by adding bass where there wasn't any, easing back on the buzziness, and so on. Your choice. Either way, a compressor ahead of a fuzz allows the fuzz to be more predictable in its operation and push the fuzz a little harder. Mark Hammer |

heres the best order CS-3 ------> HM-3------>(Chorus/flanger placed in the order that sounds best) ----> GE-7 EQ ------> RV-3 the reasons for this setup I can't get into, but it ensures the maximum characteristics of each pedal are maintained and sound quality is at its best. |
