I noticed that too (in the news reader) and haven't figured out how to get rid of it. I guess they want you to be reminded whose brower/email you are using.

What makes it even worse is that you can't click "STOP" or close it like you could if it was a browser window! I'll try sending e-mail to their tech support department. (Last time I did that, I received a reply very promptly... but it was completely blank! Oh well, I hate to support the MicroShaft monopoly on practically everything, but there are things about Netscape that bug me, too! But they were the ones who offered their browser to us for free, while MS was hoping that they could grab some more money from our pockets!)

P.S. One visible improvement in MS 4.6 is the "tree view" of your mailbox folders, which makes it a LOT easier to manage your e-mail. With 4.05 I'd have to open a separate window for the mailbox manager program and carefully resize the windows so that I could drag messages from my inbox to whatever folder I wanted to save it in. With 4.6 you can file away a message as soon as you read it and reply to it. (I wish it was as easy to manage snail mail!)

Here's some alternatives for folks who've tired of Netscape & IE quirks:

Opera browser

Euroda mail

Free Agent newsreader

Of course, if one has Linux," target="_blank">http://www.linux.org">Linux, one has a plethora of free newsreaders and mailreaders to choose from, beside a free copy of Netscape and a couple other browsers. I wouldn't call Linux really ready for prime time yet (getting close, tho), but it works for me.Linux Netscape still blows up on occasion, but a quick xkill fixes it.

A lot of people believe that Linux will be the operating system that will knock King Bill off his throne. I believe it is just a matter of time before there will be enough applications ported over to Linux so that we can all wave goodbye to Windows. (The current ad from CompUSA shows Quake and Quake II for Linux!)

    Thanks for the links!

It seems to be a setup or prefrences
issue. I downloaded 4.6 a few minutes
ago and everything looks good!!!
no difference at all.???

Re: New problems started 6/5

NS4.6 had been working okay for me until last Saturday night when I guess the URL here changed. Instead of going straight to the BBS here, I was looking at the homepage for firebottle.com. After clicking on the AMPAGE logo and selecting the Frames option, I found myself having the same problems you described: when I click on a message it opens up in a new window and if I try to reply to it, nothing happens. So I've been using the "NoFrames" since Saturday night (which is actually pretty good if you want to read all of the posts in a thread at once, but no too good for casual browsing).

Anybody else having this problem or was it something I ate? < g >

Nope, not the food.. I get it too where I didn't before. I'm using the 128-bit version of NS 4.6xx (I forget which exact one). Ever since we all went to Ampage.org

Sorry T-boy! we're trying to stay outta trouble..
