A friendly reminder to back up your sites... For all of you with web sites out there, be sure to back up your site to a local hard disk regularly. Some hosts just disappear overnight, and even the ones that stay in business could have a crash that Murphy's Law says will trash your files. While you probably have the original files somewhere on your hd, it would probably take a few hours to put everything back exactly as it was. So be sure to use your FTP software to make a current backup of your site regularly! (A handy program to weed out duplicate files is TwinFind from ZDNet/PCMag; you can delete files from older backups that are duplicates of the latest backup. This program compares file size and CRC of the files, not just relying on names and times— which can be misleading!) I don't why AMPAGE went off-line last night, but it sure gave me a scare! Yeah..I think we all see how important this page is to alot of people.. if it wasn't here, look at all we'd miss.I thought I had done something wrong, and checked many places to try and get in, no luck.. so I e-mailed Trace to ask if he was having the same trouble. Just Very Glad to see its all back. And hooked up with all my friends!!!! [Richie] |
