Tube Tester I was at a ham fest this morning and stumbled on a AVO model # 163 tube tester, the guy was asking $50 Canadian for it, I've never heard of this brand of tube tester before and was wondering if someone from this group could please give me some information on it. The manuals were included and it seems to be in good shape. I also picked up an RCA WA-44C Audio generator for $10 Canadian, is this a good price to pay for this item, he had 6 more of the same type, they are the older tube type Sig-gens. Jp |

Any Avo tube tester is easily worth Cdn$50, they'd probably be worth that much just as parts units. They're made in UK and while I'm not familiar with 163 (I've got a CT-160), every Avo tester I ever saw was good stuff. Avo is still in business, see: http://www.avointl.com If you ever run across an Avo Model 8 VOM for $50 Cdn lemme know.Or any Avo tube testers. The RCA WA44 isn't an HP, but for $10 Cdn you can't go wrong. |
