Phantom Title With the new black bar setup, I've noticed that printouts of posts don't contain the title that shows on the screen. I copy a lot of this valuable information for future reference, but it's tough when the subject title doesn't appear at the top of the page. Is this "phantom title" a possible printer/driver problem on my end, or is it controlled by the website? |

Actually the bar is dark green Doc, but it could appear as black if your display is set for less than hi-color mode. The printing problem is a browser thing. It seems like every new version of every browser I've tried in the past has had a different set of annoying problems with printing. Recently I tried printing some of the BBS posts using Netscape 4, and was surprized to find that it actually worked as it should. It's been quite a while since I tried a new version of Microsoft Explorer, so could some of the other Explorer users give Doc a hand here? Is anyone able to print these pages successfully? Are there printing preference settings that need to be changed? Speak up! |

| John Greene | I'm using the latest version of Internet Explorer and just tried printing your post and it worked just fine for me. The title bar prints as a white box and the text is grey in color. The up arrow and Email address print green. (I'm using a Deskjet 560C). --johng |

Thanks to all for their help. My hookup is at work, through a large network. The browser is Microsoft Explorer version 3.2. I view this on a color monitor (set to 256 color), but print in b&w. The two printers in my area are a HP 5SiNX and a HP 4MV (Laserjets). After reading these posts, which indicated that the title was indeed printable, I printed the same message on both printers. The title appeared on the 4MV print, but not on the 5Si which I usually print to for its graphics capability. I guess it's a printer-driver problem on my end. I'll just print to the 4MV for copying these messages. |
