Blues DeVille vs. Hotrod DeVille
Can anyone tell me what the differences between a Blues DeVille and a Hotrod DeVille are? They both appear to have the same features/functions. Also, any opinions/good mods/problems? Thanks for any info.

The Blues had an unused half of one of the preamp tubes. The Hotrod uses it. Many people think that the 'More Drive' on the Hotrod brings in the previously unused tube stage. It doesn't. The 'more drive' switch simply switches in a cathode bypass cap on an unbypassed tube stage. (Can you say 'fat' switch?) The Hotrod also has adjustable bias and uses the 4 ohm speaker tap on the output transformer for the ext. speaker jack. The Blues has the speaker tap but does not use it. The Duncan amp site has a mod for the Blues that uses the unused tube stage. It is rather severe but would be easy to tweak. I did the mod to a Blues Deluxe. I plan to add a Fender type tone stack to it using trimpots to knock the level down and be able to shape the distortion tone.

So.. then which would be better to buy? Which one is "worth" more? I'm presuming the Hotrod is, because it's newer....
