Fender "The Twin" red knob Anybody out there who has experience fixing and modifying the Fender "The Twin" red knob amp. I need repairs and possibly modifications done to mine by someone who knows what they're doing. Please email me at pappas@admin.umass.edu. |

If the problems are major, I would suggest you consider having the amp gutted and rebuilt with a vintage Fender circuit board and H/W, by a reputable technician, because the cost may not be much more than repairs/mods. |

Mark, I have spent years doing different Mods to my "The Twin". Unfortunatly, the circuitboard couldn't handle all the soldering and unsoldering so I have to spent a lot of time rewiring it. I am going to do it cuz I like the channel switching wich is quite a complex way of doing it but I don't feeling like redoing that circuit. I have come up with a great sounding preamp layout and still plan on making the fixed to cathode bias switch, 4 to 2 tube switch and the triode/pentode switch. In all reality, I will probably run my amp with just 2 - 5881's and add the triode/pentode and the bias switch and be done with it. I don't need 100 watts anymore. I just need about 16 hours and I can finally get it running again. This entire process have been going on ffor about 6 years But I have been messing with other projectsa well. Good Luck, Bill Z. |
