I have tryed post master vol. and I like them some times. The tone controls will act more like fender's if its a marshall(this is what I think some guys dont like). This master is used in most DIAZ amps, Marshall's Powercel combo and its big brother a cool Park amp(can't remember name). In the GT book #2 is the Diaz one (this one I like the most) #1 is the Powercel & Park #3 is the Lee Jackson power attenuator circuit in his mods and amps(this one sounds like you described )and the one I see most(seems it was populer in the late 70s-mid 80s)and take out. The one I like best too is the factory type,This and a good overdrive (OD1 or TS9)will eat most high gain amps
