Sovtek MIG50 Questions

Hey everyone,

I have a couple questions about an amp I just picked up and I was hoping that some of you could help me out.

1) Does anyone out there have a schematic for the Mig50?

2)I'm experiencing a weird tone problem with my amp at hight volumes on channel 1. What I'm trying to do is get a good distortion sound. I can totally get the sound I want at low volumes but once I crank the amp up to compete with a dummer things drastically change. The tone seems to get really smooth, things seem to really flatten out-tons of mids. I loose all distinction(sp?) in my sound. It gets worse as I increase the volume. I've already talked to a few people and they said it could be sevreal factors, ie. the tubes I'm running, the bias, etc. I am realitivly new to tube electronics, so this is where I need some help. If anyone can give me any advice on this, it would be greatly appriciated. I really love the clean tone of this amp, and I would really hate to get rid of it if I can't fix this problem.

just in case, I'm running fender 5881's for power and Ruby 12X7's for the pre-amp.

3)I also heard that there are some nice Mod's out there for this amp...does anyone have some of them?

Bruce	I have a schem for a Mig50.... you probably do too since it is a clone of a 50 watt Marshall. :>) The Mig50s run an absurdly high plate voltage and it's hard on the tubes. I bet yours are starting to show their age. Which RUBY 12AX7s... some are really crap! A pair of Svetlana 6L6GC and a quick bias check will go a long way too. Bruce Mission Amps

actually, I didn't know that it was a clone of a marshall....is there any way I could get a copy of it from you?
Umm I have a tube tester and all of the tubes checked out really well....so that's why I was wondering what was going on.....I'm not an amp tech just a hobbiest(sp?)
As far as the ruby tubes go, I'm not sure...they were in the amp when I got them.
Hey quick question.....this amp in not auto/self bias is it? Cuz I don't see the bias pot around anywhere...or do I have to install one myself?....

Detroit J	Yes I do....if you could send me one, that would be great. Hey I have another question for you...I know that you mentioned Svetlana tubes earlier...would you recomend their 6L6GC over a JAN-Phillips 6L6WGB? because I had someone else recomend the phillips to me. thanks! Jason
