John De Luca	Hilgen Tube Amp Hi Again, I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of Hilgen? I picked up a Hilgen Basso Model B2501 bass/instrument amp. All tube with 1 15 inch speaker. It has 4 inputs 2 bass high/normal w/ single vol & tone and 2 instrument high/normal and single vol & tone. It has a a tube rectifier and uses 2 12AX7 for preamp and 2 slyvania 7591A for power. It has a folded steel chassis with terminal strips & point to point wiring. It is covered in black with a killer speaker covering. The design reminds me of a formica table from the early 60s! It sounded ok when I got it but It sounds small and farty now. I was really thinking of gutting it and starting a DIY tube project, but I was just wondering if anyone ever heard of Hilgen and if it is worth just restoring?
