Hi Guys, I had a friend who worked at the Kalamazoo plant way back when and they indeed use whatever they could get in quanity when they needed them. Most of the originals were A2, unfinished. When they were low and needed more the supplier didn't always have enough for a complete order, so a deal was made for as many A2's they had and the rest was made up of A4 and A5. And yes, no one thought to keep track of any of those pickups, as far as what mag was used because no one ever thought about the whole collectible angle, all they wanted was to get the products out the door. If any of you are old enough to know, back then gibsons were relativley  
cheap and were all the rage so sales were booming and it was quite hard to keep up production, hence, use whatever they could get as far as parts on the smaller less noticeable things like pickups etc..
