That sounds like a great idea. I don't have one of those fancy meters yet, or I would try it myself!  
 
Interestingly I did notice that the DCR changed when I taped my coils up. It went up slightly. I measured this on each coil. I was checking to make sure my connections were good as I taped up each bobbin. I guess it makes sense, but I was a bit surprised.

Right, but not all pickups are potted, and all the unpotted ones don't always squeal.  
 
Actually the amp does have a remote volume control... it's located on the guitar! ;)

I'd imagine it does. It's just a preamp/effects/speaker emulator unit after all. All depends on where your monitor speakers are located and the volume level.
