A guitar pickup is just a small AC generator. You send its voltage to an amp. Between the pickup and the amp, we place two valves. One controls the total voltage, which we call a "volume" control, and one controls a specific frequency range, which we call a "tone" control. Thats all the "circuitry" there is. Artie
