| Mickey Boy | Re: So, what are my chances? Zhangliqun , you been in my shed? haha , I use the same basic setup , same way to mount the bobbins , same thing with the paper, my drill is mounted in a vice on top of a desk , the spool sits under the desk and the wire goes through a hole in the desk , I sometimes flatten the eyelets in a vice so they don't stick out so much , the bonus for me in using the drill is that its reversable at the flick of a switch , strat bobbins I just screw a 3 mil / 1/8 machine screw through the centre holes in the bobbin and its then easy to drop in the drill chuck , I used a reed switch hooked up to a digital counter and this works ok for me , I was thinking of trying to rig up something similar to the timing light thats used to strobe the ignition timing on a car , this would give the impression that the bobbin was not moving whilst you are winding and would make it real easy to see where the winds are going. I think the fingers for tensioning is the way too , I do find that the drag can increase as your fingers get a bit hotter, Mark , the tape is a really good idea , as you say its quick and easy if it needs removing , Hmmm spandex pants , does anyone still wear them ? no not you guys , the "rock star " dudes. Is the teflon tape conductive at all? Mick |
