Bizarre charging incident...

Zhangliqun	Bizarre charging incident... ...or maybe it's not, but it doesn't make sense to me. Bottom line, I seem to have an Alnico 2 bar magnet that has multiple personality disorder. I have Stew Mac's neo disk mags in a vice, opposite poles facing each other about 5" apart. I wanted to recharge a weakened Alnico 2 bar mag so I ran it through the neo field. Then I checked it with the Stewmac polarity tester and as I ran it along the length of the magnet, the little magnet in the tube of the tester breakdances and does backflips, showing black/white/black/white, you get the idea. It's north for a few centimeters, then south, then north... Same thing on the other side/pole of the magnet. I've run it through the neo field many times to fix it but the phenomenon either just moves or reverses or goes away for just a little while and comes back. What gives?
