FWIW, you mention that it is 'vintage potted' so that implies that it was potted like the originals, where the wax has not completely penetrated the windings. In which case that's probably your answer. In my opinion a good single coil should be microphonic, not to the point of picking up body noise, but enough to hear your fingers on the strings. I think there's something dead about fully potted pickups, a little too controlled. Mine can squeal like a pig but they sound great!! *b
