| MBSetzer | Re: Let's exchange reading material! What if we just stick to the facts? I heartily recommend RDH4, not only is it mostly proven correct without a doubt, there are loads of references to back up the facts as well as any interpretations that are presented. This is as conservative as you can get. I think this could be about the most useful for Ampagers compared to any other reading material, provided you are accustomed to having an author contribute a relatively limited amount of material, and serve instead as editor-advocate for a greater portion of the publication. Maybe this is too non-fictional for some tubeheads, in that case I revert to my old standby, *The Origin of Consciousness (in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind)* which I have recommended before without seeing any following discussion or controversy. This has been on my short list since it came out in the '70's and I have mentioned it before. So when I was trying to think of something completely different, I remembered reading *The Secret Life of Plants* in the '70's as well, so that was going to be my sole contribution this time. Then it struck me how these 3 are not very different at all, just scientific theories based on kilos and kilos of documented references, with some references better than others, as expected. So naturally when I was reminded of RDH4, it had to be at the top of the list. But going down from there I would say my selections get more entertaining. Maybe not as funny as laughing at Franken or O'Reilly, but the funniest parts are usually when they don't realize they are joking. I really don't like fiction but I am accustomed to sifting for non-fiction among the pretentious. Mike |
