Re: A veiw from the other side...
Broadcast TV, is not really the norm anymore. I would have to wager that most people are cable or satelite subscribers (DirecTV, Dish Network, C-Band), which include your local channels (broadcast TV) in some packages. I am referring to shows on MSNBC, CNBC, Fox News, etc. that are all on most cable/satelite systems as part of a basic package. Between them all, I can't name a single flaming liberal host, save for maybe Colmes, but he is not allowed to really challenge his counterpart on the show (Hannity)and his not a flaming liberal.

The reason I am using these stations as an example, is because it's their bread and butter. What else do they do, but broadcast the news and news related shows.

About the only Broadcast news show host I can think of that claims to be a Democrat (much different than a flaming liberal mind you) is Chris Matthews. However, having watched him for a few years, he seems to be a middle of the road to a somewhat right leaning Democrat.

My point around Discovery\TLC\History channels is about the material and how it is/was presented. Disc/TLC ran shows about the WTC attacks and how the buildings collapsed. They presented only the data that supported the "Offical Word" of why this happened. They did not bring up any of the information analyzed by independent researchers that showed suspicious evidence.

They also have numerous shows based on vanity that promote consumerism. This is not all bad, but it's got untold masses wanting plastic surgery, $100K choppers and custom hot rods, etc. How many folks will get themselves into extreme debt over promoting these wants? What happened to all those great shows on space, animals, etc. I do like shows like mythbusters, american chopper, and american hot rod. I am just not sure if these shows provide the same educational value that these channels were founded on. It is now purely entertainment, with a small taste of educational programming thrown in at odd times. But again, even the educational shows are produced through an american perspective and not without bias. They also chose to run shows around election time that were clearly promoting a right leaning perspective, such as "The Real Saddam", "Wings Over Iraq", "Al Qaeda 2.0", etc. Not to say there wasn't good information in these shows, but how about addressing other election hot topics other than terrorism and the Iraq war. Such things as global warm/environment, social security, education, are all good topics as well, just not as important in the eyes of the network.

Hope this helps you see where I'm coming from.
