But expecting joe 6-pack and the mrs to become IT geeks is not practical. 98% of folks have no friggin idea about the first bit of this stuff and don't want to know. these are the folks wiht their win98 machines plugged straight into their cable modems and left on all day. bot farmers.. you know who you are. Until they start teaching rights management, computer forensics, firewalling and security, unix architectures and TCP/IP stack in grade school it ain't gonna happen. (even if they do it ain't gonna happen). can't agree with letting sony go bc they are one of many. i should use that one when I get busted for speeding.. maybe we should let Enron go, and MCI while we're at it. They're all crooked so why bother - or perhaps I misunderstood your point? Sorry man, that just does not make sense. Letting criminals get away with crimes sends the wrong message. We should body slam (off the top rope!) every single corp that tries this. I for one am not going to roll over for these scumbags. As for Norton and the others - you can install or uninstall their s'ware as you pls. you can opt in, or opt out. that is a world of difference from what sony did. What does this rootkit have to do with TCI? I am not making the connection here at all. & why does mitnick bore you?
