Hum Eliminator makes a gizmo that plugs into the wall and safely eliminates ground loop. Also...this won't help the ground problem, but as far as safety is concerned, someone mentioned to me once that it is a good idea to place a resistor (not sure what value) between groundpoint and gound wire to prevent too high of voltage from giving you too much of a zap.
