oiling a variac. bad?

JC | oiling a variac. bad? Hello I just got a new variac and I want it to last as long as possible. Would it be a good idea to put some kind of lubricant on the contact surface where the graphite 'brush' runs or better not? I know there must be replacements but better not needing them.
