| Doug | 1983 Fender/Rivera Concert. A Few Easy Questions... Hello All! I just picked up a 1983 Fender/Rivera Concert 1-12" amp. The amp is near-mint condition, really nice shape. I already pulled the chassis, and all the caps are original and obviously in need of replacement. For electrolytics, I see: (2) 220uF, 285v (3) 20uF, 500v (3) 70uF, 100v In the doghouse. And up on the board: (2) 4uF, 450v (6) 22uF, 25v OK. I'm primarily a guitar builder, and no electronic genius, although I do do my own cap jobs and biasing, but it's been 3-4 years since I've had to do one. Questions: 1) Does anyone see/know of anything else that should be changed out that I missed? 2) Where's the quickest and easiest place to buy the caps and any other parts? 3) Are there any suggestions as to anything else I should do to it while I'm in there? Since I like the bolder sound of 6L6's, I'll probably use a pair of used RCA blackplates that I had in a SFSR in it, although it seems a lot of people like 5881's in it. 4) What's the proper bias range for this amp? And I'm going to probably use some nice Mazdas or RCA's for all the pre-amps, I have a good collection of NOS tubes here. Thanks a MILLION for any help you can give me to get it perked up. I'm thinking this should be a pretty easy and straightforward tuneup. Doug. |
