| Bob M. | Re: 1966 BFSR Blowing Fuses When an amp blows a fuse, it is because the circuit is drawing too much current. Usually the top three culprits are: 1) power tubes, 2) rectifier circuit or tube, 3) filter supply circuit. Occasionally something amiss in the phase inverter or bias circuit will affect one of the above three areas in such a way to cause a fuse to blow. It is not usual for a bad preamp tube to cause a fuse to blow, but never say never with tube amps. Of course, dropping various metal objects into live amps may reak havoc, depending on the arbitrary and random connections these metal bits make in their travels. It sounds to me like you could use the services of a good amp tech. Bob M. |
