Re: clarification
Mine is a '76 also but it needed a new PT. It was also one of the ones which were modified to sell new in the USA with 6550A's instead of EL34's.

So I put in the replacement PT from New Sensor, MPT50 manufacturer code 2380218, set it back up to accomodate EL34's and now the plate voltage is 470.

This MPT50 does not have all of the primary taps that the orignal had but it is a drop-in replacement.

If you have a 200V primary tap on your stock PT you might try that instead of a 220, 230, or 240 and it should give you a little higher B+.

You might also consider trying 6550's, they definitely do not compress as much.

Mike
