Actually, there are worse things than having preamp tubes on a PCB. For one, you're not going to have mysterious problems with lead dress - there isn't any.  
Or, more properly, the lead dress is fixed in place on the PCB. With hard-mounted power and output tubes, that's not so bad as long as the boards are well mounted and supported.
