I want to say thanks for posting that transformer checker. I built a version in a Rat-shack mini box, but I used a 9V battery instead of 6V. Can you see any problems doing this? It seems to work okay.  
 
Also, I tried it with a 6V DC wall wart power supply, and it did not work. Any reason you can think of why this is?
