| Marc | conductive tag board in '66 Fender ProR I have heard of conductive fiber boards in old fenders, but I'd never seen it until now. I think that the coupling caps in this '66 Pro Reverb I am working on are infact not leaky. In circuit measurements was finding a bunch of leaky caps. I lifted one end of a couple of the coupling caps and they were not leaking any DC, but when I touched the board it was showing 2.5 to 6V depending on where I touched the board. There is a bit of rust inside and out side of the chassis, it looks like this amp lives in a damp environment. I have heard the cure is to dehumidify the board by keeping the amp on all night to drive out the moisture, or to put it in an oven at about 150 degrees to toast it a bit.... Anybody have another solution and possibly a way to prevent it from coming back again? I doubt he wants a new board installed. Thanks! Marc |
